Palm Tree Saga - Part Two

The neighbor tells me the guys will be back on Monday to clean the stuff up. Well, I work on Monday and the dogs are in the yard while I'm at work, so I decide to take the day off so the dogs can be with me while the mess is resolved.

Monday I take off to the barn before the guys get here and return home around 3 before the guys get here. So mad... The neighbor doesn't know why they didn't show, called them stupid, she'll figure it out, etc, etc. That night, around 10, Jo'Burg starts howling and barking and carrying on. Scares the shit out of me because I'm sound asleep. Yep, they are in the yard. Whatever. I turn the light on for them and go to sleep. I wake up later and they are gone and the pile looks the same. I think they took some of the trunk and that was it...

Come Tuesday afternoon and they show up again and take nothing because the truck is too small. Be back tomorrow with a trailer. Wednesday no one shows up, ever. So now I'm thinking I'll just take Friday off and deal with it myself.

Come home Thursday afternoon and this is on my front yard:

I've gotten pretty good about not freaking out immediately, although I really wanted to when I saw that mess. They tell me that they will be back in the morning to take it to the dump, which is smart thinking on their part. Me at work, dogs in yard, move it to the front. Not so stupid after all neighbor lady.

Not holding my breath, I came home Friday afternoon to a clean front lawn. Thank You!!!

Poor Mr. Palm Tree... But his stump is still there, so he may return...

Hope everyone had a great Turkey day. I had a really good day. Ran, rode, and went to my brothers for dinner. I made his favorite clam dip and he gobbled it up which makes me happy. His wife made the dinner and we carried it down to a neighbor's house that is expecting a second baby. I don't understand the dynamics of it, I just help carry...

Tomorrow we visit with my Uncle and Aunt, which I am looking forward to... He is my favorite Uncle.

Recently I saw "Into The Wild" and enjoyed it so much I read the book. I recommend both highly.

Just finished "Water For Elephants", thanks Mom!! I'm so sad I finished it already (5 day record for me of a book of that size). It has animals, the circus and love... Very entertaining!!!

Palm Tree SAGA

Incase you didn't know - Cut, in Spanish, means Cut down, not trim...

Neighbors are fixing up their house and the lady asked me if they could "cut" the palm tree because during the winds (at the time of the fires) they got a lot of palm tree shit in their yard. OK, we had winds and fires, so sorry about the palms. But if someone wants to organize tree trimming, have it done, and let me know how much it costs, I'm all for it!!! I so don't want to deal with that crap.

So on Sunday I came down the drive looking for the tree (about 4 stories high) looking to see if some guy was hanging off ropes trimming the thing, but the sky was clear. I pull up to the driveway and the sky is still clear. I open the gate and see

OMG. After sweeping the patio in an effort to collect my feelings, I rang the doorbell. She says to me, "Remember I asked you if OK to Cut" and I said "thought it meant trim" and she looked at me like "I can't put it back now, can I?"

The plan became clearing out my backyard nighmare tornado-took-my-palmtree issue, as seen in the photo.

I'll update you on the saga ASAP
